Welcome!
Hi everyone! Welcome to my blog! I would like to take a minute to introduce what I am blogging for. I do a lot of online reading and I have recently come by an article that was quite disturbing to me. There was a video that was all over the news and such about a man giving chewing tobacco to his son at a baseball game which was caught on the mega-tron at the game showing the father spitting his chew, then handing the cup to his son, which then showed his son ecstatic to be able to enjoy the dip just like his father. In the comments of this video from a site www.kingwoodunderground.com then proceed to be filled with comments along the lines of "I am more worried about the kids obesity" ect. This was all I had to read to decide that I had an opinion that needed to be voiced.
Let me first start by saying, I can not believe the audacity of these "adults" to say that handing a young child chewing tobacco is "less of an issue" than the kid being a little over weight. When did society decide that drugs, alcohol, and tobacco are smaller problems than obesity?
I am "obese" by the doctors chart. I am 5ft 11in and weigh around 250lbs on a good day. Now I can hear some of you already saying "WOW! That woman is huge!" but bare with me! 2 years ago, I enrolled myself in a program called Jenny Craig. At my first weigh in, I weighed in at a whopping 398lbs! I never wanted to be "skinny" but yet healthy and happy. After losing well over 100lbs, I was happy with myself, and my doctor seemed to be happy with my progress and deemed me "healthy". If you look at the charts of weight/height/age I am still considered obese! I no longer smoke, I am not an alcoholic by any means of the word, and use no drugs. I am HEALTHY!
Since when did society start being able to tell people when they are healthy and happy? I am too tall for a woman, overweight, and my body doesn't look perfect in a swim suite. I can't buy clothes at the fancy designer stores, I can't share clothing with my friends, and Lord knows I don't share my weight with just anyone. But at the end of the day I will honestly admit I am Happy, Healthy, and FABULOUS!
So I once again welcome you all to my little piece of mind! I am going to do my best to blog at least 2 times each week in hopes of helping people and changing others minds!
Remember guys, you live life for yourself! Nobody else! Be happy for you!
Lol! You can go shopping with me!!! And I do agree with you there, that I would be more worried about the kid using tobacco than being a little overweight.
ReplyDeleteNot everyone's body is the same. What maybe obese to some, is not really the case. You can be healthy and not be a twig.
I would love to Liz! Thank you for your support!
